According to Human Rights Watch, hundreds of Ethiopian migrants and asylum seekers have been killed by mortars and machine gun fire from Saudi border guards.
The organisation estimates at least 655 deaths between March 2022 and June 2023.
The United Nations previously sent Saudi Arabia a letter where it listed allegations of over 400 people being killed on the border and others being tortured. Saudi Arabia said it rejects allegations of what were described as “systemic” killings.
