On Kia Electric Vehicles equipped with Smart Cruise Control, the SMART REGENERATION SYSTEM controls the regenerative braking automatically according to the road and driving conditions.
To activate this system, pull and hold the right paddle switch.
“AUTO” will appear in the REGENERATIVE BRAKING level icon on the INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
When this setting is active, SMART REGENERATION BRAKING will remain enabled with each power cycle.
While driving, if the system does not detect a vehicle in front of you, the “AUTO” indicator will be white, meaning it’s in standby.
When a vehicle is detected, “AUTO” will turn blue.
Now the regenerative braking level is controlled automatically when vehicle speed is above six miles per hour and one of the following occurs:
The road gradient changes…
Distance from the vehicle ahead reduces or increases…
Or the speed of the vehicle ahead reduces or increases.
When Smart Regeneration is active, the vehicle adjusts the level of Regenerative Braking automatically based on the current conditions.
To turn off SMART REGENERATION BRAKING while driving, press and hold the right paddle switch for more than one second and Smart Regenerative Braking will be deactivated.
To reactivate SMART REGENERATION BRAKING, press and hold the right paddle switch again for more than one second.
