Prof. David Heymann is Professor of Infectious Disease Epidemiology at LSHTM and former Chairman of Public Health England. For 22 years he was based at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva on secondment from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) during which time he held various positions, such as Executive Director of the Communicable Diseases Cluster, a position from which he headed the global response to SARS.
He spoke with us at the ESCMID Conference on Coronavirus Disease (ECCVID) which initially took place online from Wednesday 23rd to Friday 25th September 2020 and covered many aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic. He was interviewed by programme director Jacob Moran-Gilad about his experience with coronavirus emerging over the past 20 years.
