Merck and partner Ridgeback Biotherapeutics said they specifically asked the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to grant emergency use authorization for their new drug, molnupiravir, to treat adults with mild-to-moderate COVID-19 who are at risk for severe disease or hospitalization.
