After celebrating with friends and family over the Thanksgiving holiday last week, it seemed right that I should honor one of my greatest friends in an interviewlet this week.
Maury Hopson was there for me when I first arrived as a model in New York City, alone and somewhat afraid, and he is still beside me now as I build this new business. I just called him from Texas, where I was visiting our distribution center. “There’s a lot of space out here,” I said amazed.
He reminded me, “When we first moved to Fort Stockton, the Mayor was proudly showing us around the historical sites, you know, things like the soldiers barracks and the old cannons , etc. I (age 14 and furious that I had to leave my classmates back in Marshall) was looking around at this parched, dusty, flat land with only cactus plants and tumble weeds thinking to myself, what the fuck were they defending?!”
