“Journey Home” is an original piece written by our very own Staff Arranger, Staff Sgt. Sara Corry, and performed by the U.S. Army Band’s Herald Trumpets. It honors the Centennial of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and her deep connection with Arlington National Cemetery. Corry’s grandfather, Lt. Col. George R. Corry, an Air Force officer who served in Vietnam, is buried there. The song for SSG Corry symbolizes service, sacrifice, mourning, and memory.
SSG Corry hails from Capistrano Beach, CA and joined the band in 2016. Her background includes numerous degrees in Music Composition - Bachelor’s from Southern Methodist University, Master’s from University of Texas at Austin, and a Doctorate from University of Colorado at Boulder. In addition to arranging, she is a harpist and has performed throughout the U.S. and Europe.
