Colors used: Alizarin Crimson, Yellow Ochre, Phtalo Green, Cobalt Blue, Burnt Sienna, Quinacridone Sienna, Indigo.
I use a variety of watercolor paint brands (Daniel Smith, Holbein, M.Graham, Nevskaya Palitra) but all of them are professional watercolors. I used to buy student-grade paints but now I stay away from them as they contain a lot of additives and little pigment. When painting, I had to apply so much paint just to get any pigment out of them. Professional paints seem to be more economical.
Paper: Arches 100% cotton, cold-press texture, 140 lb. You may use any brand you like but, most importantly, use 100% cotton.
Brushes: I use a variety of brushes by different brands: Silver Brush, Chinese calligraphy brushes from Blue Heron Art and Michael Solovyev, squirrel brushes by Roubleff, synthetic by Escoda and Etchr, and a few other different brands. I think it is helpful to buy good quality brushes but most important is the time you spend with that brush.
