Surveillance footage captured on Wednesday (June 26) showed the moment a sinkhole swallowed part of a soccer pitch in Alton, Illinois.
The sinkhole stretched 100 feet (30 meters) wide and 30 feet (9 meters), Alton Parks and Recreation said.
Reuters was able to confirm the date and the location of the video from the general layout of the field which matched file and satellite imagery as well as the statements made by Alton Parks and Recreation regarding the incident.
