This is a self imposed challenge to push with a life-based melee Forge Guard, the three things people complain the most. Turns out you can still go pretty far.
The build plays around the Flamedrinker node which converts ignite into a lot of physical penetration, giving nearly 500% pen on bosses with my current setup. This has been explored by others before such as the Jasper's Searing Pride version on Maxroll, but I have added some optimization of my own to make it more fun to play and clear maps much faster.
The secret sauce here is the forced conversion to physical damage of Void Cleave and scaling it into a massive AoE movement skill that will wipe most packs. Normally VC doesn't do anything in a phys Rive setup because it is void/fire, but with The Last Laugh with LP, you can just force it into physical basically by stacking a lot of added physical damage. Alongside with Xithara's Conundrum which boosts your damage by another 30% at full health(up most of the time due to Healing Hand and Abyssal Echo heals), it becomes a reliable speed clear tool.
You can go Forge Strike over Abyssal Echoes for a tankier version that plays around Scrap Metal on Rive, with ~50% more armor on average and similar damage, but you have to cut back the Void Cleave damage and execute mobs with Rive instead.
