The Legendary Saliva guitarist Wayne Swinny's last video before he passed away
Wayne Swinny, the guitarist for Saliva, has passed away at the age of 59, according to a report. The band's lead singer Bobby Amaru issued a statement confirming the news. Swinny was admitted to the intensive care unit on Tuesday morning (March 22) after experiencing a cerebral hemorrhage (March 22). The band went on the road to promote their latest single, "High on Me."
"Honestly, I have no idea what's going through my head or how I feel. My deepest condolences go out to Wayne's loved ones and all those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him "exposed the performer as the vocalist. "Nikki, his daughter, has my deepest sympathies. He had so much affection for the little girl. He had all the Rock 'n' Roll swagger of a Guitar Hero onstage. He was a wonderful human being with no enemies offstage and a proud father. He also knew a lot about Ancient Aliens. He would do anything to guarantee a wonderful experience for you."
"I'm grateful that I got to share almost 12 years of my life with Wayne on the stage and most importantly off the stage," concluded the vocalist. "He filled in for the elder sibling role I never had. We had a great time and I picked up a lot of knowledge from him. This is something I will treasure forever. Wayne, may God bless you. We'll definitely cross paths again!"
After the exits of singer Josey Scott in 2011 and bassist Dave Novotny in 2015, Swinny was the only original member of Saliva still active, though Scott just rejoined the band for a concert at the Blue Ridge Rock Festival this past September.
In 2011, Amaru became the band's vocalist, joining guitarist Swinny, bassist Brad Stewart, and drummer Sammi Jo Bishop.
Swinny contributed to 11 studio albums over his career, including classics by Saliva like "Always," "Your Illness," "Click Click Boom," and "Survival of the Sickest." Listen to some of his old songs again down below.
The staff here at Loudwire would like to express our deepest sympathies to Swinny's family, the rest of the band, and the music community at large.
