In this episode of If You Lived Here, hosts Christine Louise and John Begeny meet Mount Pleasant resident and realtor, Megan Conway. They visit a variety of homes in a Northwest D.C. community designated a historic district in 1978, starting with a condo in a Harry Wardman-designed Beaux-Arts style building, where high ceilings and an open concept offer surprising space in a sought-after address. Next, the hosts tour a mid-century modern townhouse with a backyard oasis of green space, and finally, explore an 1882 Victorian home that was actually relocated from its original location to its place on 17th street. Along the way, Catalina Sol of La Clinica Del Pueblo explains the history of Central American migration to Mt. Pleasant; Sharon Conaway, the founder of Historic Mt. Pleasant, talks about preserving the neighborhood’s architectural beauty; and local residents and business owners share the stories that help Mt. Pleasant live up to its name.
