The Gulfstream G280's history begins in suspicious circumstances and eventually develops into something quite remarkable. Gulfstream, an aerospace manufacturer based in Savannah, acquired the Galaxy Aerospace program from Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) in 2001. Along with the program, Gulfstream also acquired the IAI Galaxy, a super mid-size business jet that, despite having some unique performance characterizations, failed to gain traction in the market. The Galaxy was rebranded as the Gulfstream G200 after undergoing a rebranding process.
