When I was in Canada, I had my first encounter with Iranians as an Israeli. I vividly remember walking downtown and witnessing a massive protest soon after the tragic death of Masha Amini.
As an Israeli, I have always been aware of Iran's hostility towards my country, especially when I hear headlines about their nuclear program in the news. However, it was heartening to see that Israelis supported the Iranian protests and organized an assembly to express solidarity.
My understanding of the Iranian community grew further through the Kan and Apple TV series "Tehran," which shed light on the plight of the young generation suffering under the regime.
For this episode, I set out to meet Iranians and gain insight into their lives beyond the political conflict. I wanted to understand what growing up in their country was like.
Ultimately, peace is made between people, and I hope this video encourages conversations that break down biases. Even though this series is centered on understanding Canada, this episode focuses on understanding Iran.
What I appreciate most about Canada is that I get to talk with people I may never have met back in Israel.
Everybody should be aware of what's happening in Iran.
