The Belvedere Palace in the Austrian capital of Vienna is one of the most beautiful baroque buildings in the world. It symbolizes the splendor and luxury of the Austrian Empire in its heyday. The Garden Palace was built by Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt as the summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy (1663-1736), the great military leader of his time. From the balcony of the palace one can admire the city and the green slopes of the Vienna Woods. In the palace is located the Austrian Art Gallery of the 19th and 20th centuries. The pearl of the collection are paintings by Klimt (including the famous "Kiss"), many works by French impressionists, paintings from the Viennese Biedermeier era and XX century paintings by famous artists - Kokoschka and Hundertwasser.
