(21 Aug 2020) The wife of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who's in a coma at a hospital in Siberia after allegedly being poisoned, said Friday she was prevented from meeting a team of German doctors who flew in to examine him.
Yulia Navalnaya said officials barred her from speaking to the German specialists.
"We think it's obvious that something is hidden from us," she said.
After initially refusing to let Navalry fly to Germany for specialist treatment, Russian doctors gave permission Friday, state media reported.
Navalny, a 44-year-old politician and corruption investigator who is one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's fiercest critics, was admitted to an intensive care unit in the Siberian city of Omsk on Thursday.
His supporters believe he was poisoned and that the Kremlin was behind it.
A senior doctor in Omsk said his team did not believe Navalny was poisoned.
