Florida Panthers forwards Sasha Barkov and Matthew Tkachuk speak before their team plays the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 1 of the 2023 Stanley Cup Final at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, June 3, 2023.
The Panthers visit the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 1 on Saturday at 8 p.m. (TNT)
Last Wednesday, the Panthers clinched the Eastern Conference championship by sweeping the Carolina Hurricanes with a 4-3 win in Game 4.
This is Florida’s second trip to the Cup Final and first since 1996. Vegas is in the Final for the second time in the franchise’s six seasons, losing to the Washington Capitals in its expansion season in 2018.
In Game 4 against Carolina, Matthew Tkachuk scored with 4.9 seconds left — his second goal of the game — to give the Panthers the lead back and the victory. He ended up with three game-winning goals in the four wins against Carolina.
Florida also got 36 saves from Sergei Bobrovsky as well as goals from Anthony Duclair and Ryan Lomberg in the win.
