The National Department of Health has warned mineworkers who suffer from occupational illnesses or got injured while working in mines, not to make use of third parties who promise to claim compensation on their behalf.
This after a number of mineworkers in the Eastern Cape, North West, Limpopo and Mpumalanga were defrauded by people who assisted them with claims and only paid over small amounts to the miners, while pocketing the rest.
