Witnesses in the trial of suspected Nazi war criminal Erich Priebke told the court Wednesday (15/5) how the defendant tortured and brutalized them during World War II. Priebke, aged 82, is charged with involvement in one of Italy's
worst war crimes. It is alleged he took part in the 1944 massacre of 335 people in the Ardeatine Caves near Rome, as revenge for a resistance bombing attack in which German soldiers were killed.
