Granite, Montana is located near the top of Granite Mountain in one of the most beautiful scenic overlooks in the state. The sheer immensity of what was once there is unbelievable unless you have a historic photo with you when you stand on what once was Main Street. The remnants that remain give a great impression as to the vast efforts that were expended to make the town what it was. Now a state park with interpretive signs, you can enjoy a self-guided tour through an amazing area that had unique features distinguishing it from other mining towns of its era. The dirt road leading to it is passable to most cars and trucks, but can get muddy or rougher depending on the weather so call ahead to get travel conditions during the warmer months.
