Connecting two of Europe’s most recognizable peaks, Mont Blanc and Matterhorn, the Haute Route is one of the greatest multi-day treks on the continent.

The route is an unyielding string of undulating meadows and high mountain passes, with views to rival the Tour du Mont Blanc, but sans the crowds. As idyllic as it may sound, though, the trek takes a serious amount of dedication, endurance, and planning.
