I visited Guatemala city early October 2022. This was my first time visiting a foreign country and I was nervous. Before taking my trip I spoke to many Guatemalan friends. They all had the same advise , Guatemala is beautiful but can also be dangerous. I was warned about Pick pockets, armed robbery, foreigner kidnappings and ransom extortion and even black market organ trade.
I found the total opposite; Friendly people, great food and a modern hip city.
