Tarantula Hawk Wasps are ranked as the second most painful insect sting on the planet at a 4/4 on the Schmidt pain index. Join us on our journey as we test the validity of this pseudoscience. Our test 'went wrong' in relation to our hypothesis that Pepsis wasps do indeed have a painful sting throughout their range. Tarantula Hawk Wasps are naturally nonaggressive towards people and rarely sting unless provoked. Jack’s World of Wildlife does not support the harassment of vertebrate animals; as vertebrates have a complex nervous system and stress can become fatal. Insects and other Arthropods have a minimal nervous system (if any at all) and cannot feel pain or stress in the same capacity. Teaching people to respect and admire wildlife rather than fear it is our main goal. Enjoy!
