Alongside the launch of the Famicom Disk System was a little game called Zelda no Denestsu: The Hyrule Fantasy and Super Mario Bros. 2. These two games would go on to both be extremely popular hits that moved the disk-based add-on sales greatly in Japan.
While Zelda would obviously later be downported to cartridge in North America and Europe, Super Mario Bros. 2 remained on disk in Japan for a long, long time, passed up by Nintendo internationally claiming it was simply too difficult. It wasn't until 1993's Super Mario Collect/All-Stars that finally brought this game to the west.
