The state food and drug watchdog has warned that foreign food and drug products directly purchased via online commerce firms appear to have various problems.
According to the state Korea Food · Drug Administration (KFDA), investigators have detected a huge quantity of toxic substances from a wide range of health foods on sale via online social commerce networks.
The KFDA said it had tested 422 foreign goods and found 65 diet products containing banned ingredients and even some substances for animals and aphrodisiacs.
The KFDA has shut down sites selling inferior products and is beefing up inspections on products traded through online commerce sites.
