Rare Black Jaguar Spotted At Chester Zoo
Welcome Inka a female rare black Jaguar
Inka was born in 2021 at the Big Cat Sanctuary in Kent UK
She is not a Black Panther as some people think, Black Panthers don't actually exist, she is a rare Black Jaguar, her black coat colouring is a result of a genetic mutation known as melanism
Her parents are: Mother - Kiera and Father - Neron
Kiera was bred at Paradise Park in 2017 - offspring of Kedara and Kumal and is has a golden coat colour
Neron is from Amsterdam Zoo and has a black coat colour
Chester Zoo Jaguar Inka and Jaguar Napo
Jaguar Inka joins Napo the male Jaguar at Chester Zoo,who has been very lonely since his Female companion Goshi, another rare black Jaguar, died tragically and suddenly at the age of almost 10 years in March 2022 at Chester Zoo
He now has a new companion Inka who recently came to Chester Zoo in August 2023 age 2
The the pair of Jaguars are being gradually introduced to one another in their Spirit Of The Jaguar Habitat at the Zoo, in the hopes that they will get along

Chester Zoo is one of the largest and is the most visited zoo in the UK and has been voted the UK's best Zoo.
