Every year, dozens of athletes under age of 18 die competing in a sporting event or practice. Most of these individuals are males suffering from an undiagnosed heart condition called Hypertrophic Cardiohypopathy. All young athletes should have a detailed examination by their pediatrician. If they have a history of heart disease they should be seen regularly by a pediatric cardiologist, especially if they've experienced chest pain or fainting during exercise.
