This event is to focus on Future of Vertical Lift as a paradigm shift for the acquisition of vertical lift systems and to delve into how FVL is likely to shift the current paradigm. Currently, there appears to be a point of commonality in perspective between the FVL team in DoD and the team in industry that FVL offers the opportunity for a new paradigm in the acquisition of vertical lift. It has been suggested in past discussions at CSIS that FVL may lead to changes in the way that different tiers of the supply chain interact including the relationship between primes and subs, that FVL may present a different approach to commonality and to sustainment across vertical lift platforms, and that FVL may present an opportunity to take a different approach to developing and fielding new capabilities in vertical lift. The premise of this event is to pull both these views into the same discussion to drive conversation on what DoD and industry think will be the critical elements of the FVL “new paradigm” and how best they might work together going forward.
