Do you ever notice how the "every band you've never heard of is someone's favorite band" crowd doesn't seem to notice that a good bunch of these bands fit into easily identifiable molds like blues rock/classic rock throwbacks? Or pop-punk? Or emo-tinged metalcore? Or whatever name you want to give chorusless TikTok-rock? I can't imagine being into Dirty Honey and saying "oh yeah, I'm all the way in on Blue Stones and Classless Act now!". Do you also notice how the "don't gatekeep DLC, let people enjoy things" crowd doesn't notice how the ex-producer of RB literally said someone on the team is stonewalling 100 Gecs DLC just because they don't like them? That's someone who is literally "not letting us enjoy things" by gatekeeping a band as DLC. So I feel like my hands are clean when I say the DLC this year has been mostly shit; because at least when we the community shittalk a band, we aren't then going on to deny it from being in the game just on our personal biases!
And this band is one of the better ones this year! I think ToyMachine was friends with one of them, but if I were to pick a Canadian duo that a rhythm games community member is at least personally acquainted with, I'd have picked Cleopatrick.
