Tedeschi Trucks Band first night of their 11th multi-night run at the Beacon Theater on New York's Upper West Side in Style. Following in the tradition of The Allman Brothers to whom the group owes the origin of their southern rock sound and the lineage of their lead guitarist.
Every show at the Beacon is special, multi-night runs even more so. But this Thursday show was the band's 47th at the storied musical institution. On Monday 10-3 the band will perform their 50th show at the Beacon.
The band did not wait to get the party started. Blowing the doors off the place the group, fronted by married couple Susan Tedeschi (vocals and guitar), and Derek Trucks (guitar and guitar and guitar), is extraordinary in today's modern musical age. A band fronted by spectacular once in generation musical talents which has an exceptionally deep and capable bench - which they permit to shine.
Vocalists Mike Mattison, Mark Rivers, and Alecia Chakour sing as well as anyone you'll ever hear... Except for Susan Tedeschi. Having such self confidence in your own greatness is what allows one to surround yourself with the best you can get.
Drummers Tyer Greenwell and Isaac Eady held down the beat all night and got a few featured drum duos scattered about that got the crowd riled up.
A horn section that's not to be beat with Kebbi Williams on Saxophone, Elizabeth Lea on Trombone, and Ephraim Owens on Trumpet.
Bandon Boone holding his own on bass guitar despite the great standard guitar players he's trying to balance. As well as Keyboardist Gabe Dixon punching the ivories and providing some vocals as well.

I’m Ian, The Brooklyn Humanist. NYC Native who grew up coming in on the train to misspend my youth bouncing along the streets of the LES and West village, outside of clubs and venues I couldn’t get into. Following stints in New Orleans and Washington DC I have been back diving headlong into the New York City concert scene for nearly a decade. The Brooklyn Humanist YouTube channel has been created so I can share videos of the incredible unique experiences of the New York City live music scene. NYC nightlife is renown. New York is one of the top places in the world for live events, and my goal is for The Brooklyn Humanist to be one of the top places on the web for you to experience what New York has to offer. Whether you are transplant to the city planning your next weekend outing, a soon to be tourist, a lifelong NYer, or just living vicariously in a city you recently left or have never been the videos on Brooklyn Humanist aim to convey the electricity at the core of NYC. I hope the concerts, biking, and randomness of NYC fills you with love for this fine metropolis.
