MASOOR DAL TADKA
Ingredients
1 cup Tata Sampann Masoor dal
2 tbsps oil
½ tsp cumin powder
A pinch of asafoetida
2-3 green chillies, chopped
1 medium tomato, chopped
½ cup fresh tomato puree
¼ tsp turmeric powder
½ tsp red chilli powder
½ tsp garam masala powder
1 tsp coriander-cumin powder
Salt to taste
2 tbsps chopped fresh coriander
A pinch of sugar
½ tsp lemon juice
Coriander sprigs for garnish
Jeera rice for serving
Method
1. Take Tata Sampann Masoor Dal in a bowl, add sufficient water and wash for 2-3 times .
2. Heat pressure cooker; add washed Tata Sampann Masoor Dal, cover and cook for 3 whistles are given out. Allow the mixture to cool down.
3. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, Add cumin seeds, asafoetida, green chillies. let the cumin seeds change colour, add tomatoes , fresh tomato puree, turmeric powder , red chilli powder ,garam masala powder, coriander-cumin powder, salt and mix.
4. Add fresh coriander and sugar and mix well. Open the cooker once the pressure has reduced completely and add cooked dal and ½ cup of water and lemon juice, mix and cook for 5-6 minutes on a medium heat.
5. Serve hot with jeera rice and garnish with coriander sprigs.
