About Lydia:
Nashville based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Lydia Luce was raised in Ft. Lauderdale. She grew up the daughter of a professional conductor and so began playing violin at a very young age. Luce would go on to attend Berklee College of Music and then to receive her masters in viola at UCLA, before making the move to Nashville in pursuit of a non-classical career.
Her latest project, 2021’s full length album “Dark River”, is a collection of songs of personal growth written after a period of self-isolation and discovery that is influenced, but in no way controlled by, the classical instruments of her upbringing as well as indie rock, roots, and jazz. The project was in its last stages when Luce’s home was hit by the Nashville tornado in early 2020, an experience which gave new meanings to some of the songs she’d already penned.
Luce has recorded with artists including Joshua Hedley, Eminem, Annie Lennox, and Dolly Parton. She leads Lockeland Strings, a community arts organization and a showcase of local artists accompanied by string quartet arrangements, alongside performances of new contemporary classical pieces from local composers.

Lyrics:
I haven’t wished it to be true for quite some time
I often sleep without waking in the night
Occasionally you cross my mind
Sing hallelujah in the morning when I rise
And keep it with me every moment passing by
Occasionally you cross my mind
Like a snake you wait
In tall grass and vine you hide away your face
Out of reach your vision comes to me
And suddenly you'll cross my mind
Go away
back to where you came from tell why today
I can’t erase where it all begins
That moment when you cross my mind
So I’ll be free of you for more than a little while
Draw back the curtains and I'll welcome in the light
Carry on day after day go on believing I am doing fine
Then suddenly you’ll cross my mind
Yes, Occasionally you cross my mind
(written by Lydia Luce, Jordan Lehning)
