Stewart Stewart and I (Dena Stewart) have attended ART BASEL | Miami Beach every year, experiencing the growth of this spectacular Art Fair.
ART BASEL | Miami Beach, now in its 17th year, has turned Miami Beach and Miami into an Art Mecca for an entire week. This year, Art Basel | Miami Beach didn’t disappoint. It brought quality Art from around the world to the newly renovated, spacious Miami Beach Convention Center.
Satellite Fairs in huge Tents, in Hotels, in Store fronts, and on the Street, drew big crowds of Art Collectors, Art Buyers, Art Lovers, Art Critics, and Media from around the world. Parties, food-fests, music and social galas entertained the tens of thousands of people who deluged their senses in MIAMI ART WEEK activities.
The following are just a few of the more than TWENTY (20+) big and small Satellite Art Fairs that participated:
Art Miami and Context, located in enormous tents on the grounds of the former Miami Herald building, featured Artwork by emerging and mid-career Artists.
Aqua Hotel on Miami Beach housed Contemporary Art.
Design/Miami, situated in a giant tent pitched on the back lot of the Miami Beach Convention Center, displayed artistically crafted furniture, cabinets and home accessories.
Ink Miami specialized in exhibitions of Modern and Contemporary works on paper.
NADA (New Art Dealers Alliance) included a tree sculpture and hanging rawhide works.
Prizm Art Fair featured contemporary art of the African Diaspora.
Pulse Miami Beach had solo exhibitions and artist talks.
Red Dot Miami brought together modern and contemporary works.
Scope Miami Beach showed Contemporary art.
Untitled Miami Beach also showed Contemporary work.
MIAMI ART WEEK ended gloriously. We all came together at the annual Sagamore Hotel Art Brunch to reflect on the ART we loved most and the ART we missed. Stewart and I (Dena Stewart) now look forward to the 18th ART BASEL | Miami Beach, and another MIAMI ART WEEK.
