North Waziristan is the second largest district of FATA which is spread over an area of ​​4707 square kilometers and has a population of 540540 people. It is a mountainous region and it borders Afghanistan to Khost region. On the Pakistani side, this district is connected with Kurram Agency, District Hangu, Bannu, Karak and South Waziristan. Its main town and headquarters is Miran Shah. The major tribes here include Wazir, Dawar and Utmanzai tribes. To come here, first you have to reach Islamabad from where you reach North Waziristan after covering a distance of about 407 kilometers via Islamabad Dera Ismail Khan Motorway.

Administratively speaking, North Waziristan district has three sub-divisions which include Miran Shah, Mir Ali and Razmak. These sub-divisions are further divided into nine tehsils which include Datta Khel, Dusalli, Gharium, Ghulam Khan, Mir Ali, Shiwa, Miran Shah, Razmak, and Spinwam are included. In the center of district North Waziristan flows the Tochi River, which is about a hundred kilometers long and falls into the Indus River near Bannu. The staple food of the tribals is wheat or maize bread. Kurrmay Chawal or rice is also very popular here, which is eaten with curd and desi ghee. Apart from this, roasted meat, painda and goat meat pilao are also very popular.

The British entered Waziristan in 1894, after a military operation in 1895, they divided Waziristan into two parts, which included the agencies of North Waziristan and South Waziristan. In 1910, North Waziristan was given the status of an agency whose headquarters was made at Miran Shah
The British had many clashes with the tribals and this area was always a headache for them. Especially in the last days of the British rule, there was a war in which the tribes of Waziristan were victorious, led by a warrior Ghazi Mirza Ali Khan also known as Aipee Faqeer. To appreciate the freedom efforts of Faqir Aipee, there is a road named after him in Islamabad which is called Faqir aipee Road.
