What are the Alt and Title properties? Here is a complete HTML image tag: img src="image.jpg" alt="image description" title="image tooltip" The alt and title attributes of an image are often called "alt tag" or "alt text" and "title tag". (Technically, they're not tags, they're attributes, but don't worry). These properties allow you to add a textual description of the image, which helps with SEO and accessibility.
The alt tag is used by screen readers, for example, browsers used by visually impaired people. These screen readers tell you what's in the image by reading alt tags. Search engines like Google also use this information to understand the context of an image; to figure out what the image shows and what it is for.
Every image should have an alt text. Not just for SEO purposes, but also for accessibility. Because if you use a screen reader, you won't know what the picture is about.
The title attribute appears as a tooltip when you hover over the element. The title attribute is not required. Also, most of the time adding it doesn't even make sense. If your content contains more than 4 images, you will only get a green sphere if the percentage of images with the key phrase in the alt text is between 30% and 70%. If you use keywords in more than 70% of your images, your bullet points will turn orange to prevent you from falling into the keyword trap. If you have Yoast SEO Premium or Yoast SEO for Shopify, the plugin will also support synonyms you add to your keywords.
