There's a fascinating relationship between a V7b9 chord and a Diminished 7th chord. Here's the deal:
In a minor key, on the V7 chord, you can play a diminished 7th chord built off any note *OTHER* than the root.
So, in Dm the V chord is A7b9 = A C# E G Bb
You can play a dim7 off C# E G and Bb. This yields extremely cool and skronky results!
