【Pls look at the top comment first】Ruscha is a CCM aor band from Russia. The band was formed in the mid 1980s by two immigrant brothers Nikolai R. Pankratz (guitars) and Peter Pankratz (bass), from the Soviet Union to the United States. This song I post is from their third album "Come Alive", written and recorded in English released in 1988. This album was very limited in copies. the original album has been out of print, but a CD was re-issued in 1996 on an import label (Victor Entertainment, Inc. in Tokyo, Japan) and later in 2012 by Nikolai R. Pankratz. The whole album conveys the very clean rock n roll to send a faithful heart to God.
Initially, the band was called "The Russians" with two albums. In 1987, they changed the name into "Ruscha" to produce "Come Alive". Except the Pankratz brothers, other members are American native CCM musicians. As Siberian immigrants, the two brothers formed Ruscha with a meaningful background since I watched the interview of them as they told a very moving story about the Christian faith and something happened in their childhood in the Soviet Union and the social atmosphere they grew up in. They witnessed their compatriots who underwent hardship as a Christian or who even sacrificed for Christian faith under Communist rules in the Soviet Union during those years, including their respected grandfather, who died for religious faith.
Check out their live concert and the music video "Come Home" online and witness the two countries bond closely by the love of these rock musicians, even though there were two totally different principles of socialist ideology between СССР and USA during those periods of history. This album sybolized their new life in the US to create music and carry the gospel.
The album features both Andy Denton and Peter Pankratz on vocals. This song "Holy And True", one of my favourite tracks, features the bassist Peter Pankratz on vocals if I am not mistaken by hearing while most tracks in the album feature Andy Denton on vocals, whose voice comes out at 03:13. Also, Andy Denton is a solo CCM artist and formed another CCM hard rock band called Legend Seven with the other three members from Ruscha in 1990. After this album, the Pankratz brothers went to record their next album called "Invisible Hands" in 1992. This album was very rare because it was entirely sung in Russian.
Nowadays great changes have taken place in Russia. Though some conflicts are still on and unavoidable, most people live in love and peace and have the faith of liberty. After the tremendous change of regime and the societal structure, new generation of Russian people grow up under democracy. They have made the country thriving and welcome by more and more foreign visitors, best wishes.
