The Elections Department (ELD) has debunked rumours that marks made on ballot papers will fade off after several minutes. Self-inking pens have been introduced for the coming general election and the department has stressed that the marks are permanent. The ink is oil-based, and is both water and temperature resistant. Voters can use their own pens. As for the ballot papers, the ELD said they are no different from the ones used in past elections.
