Today we dive into that most challenging of questions, how do you cost-effectively light a reef tank? We are going to look at this from not just how to do it using LED lighting but also T5's and a holistic approach. My main focus is thinking what am I going to do with this saltwater aquarium long term because that's where the savings are. What we want to do is get the right thing the first time and avoid all the upgrade costs. Even better if it is a path that allows my tank to grow with it. Those things combined is where the cheapest lighting for a reef tank will be found.
