Edan Archer - 2017 NPR Tiny Desk Contest "Water From The Rock"
It's that time of year again! Making a live performance video for the NPR tiny desk contest is always a fun challenge, and I love seeing the other entries. This year we brought our instruments into the ferns to record this song about hope and optimism. Members of the Resolve include:
Morgan Howland-Cook (vocals and tambourine)
Ruth Celli (Cello and vocals)
Jack Shawde (guitar)
"Water From The Rock"
Written by Edan Archer
Once you were a little girl, dirt underneath your nails
singing to yourself, who you singing for, dead men don't tell tales
Once you had pretty things, and the least of these was love
Dreaming to yourself such a pretty thing,
and the dream was all rosebuds
And hope will spring from the human heart, like water from the rock
Now I have a little house, which I have yet to build
I'll build it for myself from the tools in my belt and
I promise you I will
Darkness, dawn, and the birds on the lawn, never worry them
Say what you will but my cup overfills and overfills again.
And hope will spring from the human heart, like water from the rock
