The second episode of the Re-Imagining hopes to inject some more plot than the original.
Part of the remake was to make the first season fall more in-line with the following three, introducing a more plot-heavy concept.
Looking back at the opening, it seems to muddy the waters somewhat. We made a point to have Z&G be canon adjacent, acknowledge the games but go off in a different direction, the inclusion of the Ocarina of Time cutscene as an opening scene I feel can lead to come confusion, making it seem more like and abridge series with extra characters.
Headmaster Gaepora is still a funny concept for me, a wise mentor character who immediately assumes any young man with an ounce of potential is a shoe-in for the legendary hero position. Don't know why it tickles me so much.
The establishment of Ghirahim's job and Demise's business was used to cement their relationship and provide a little springboard for the series in a way. It allows a more natural inclusion of Zant and Ganondorf and while episode 1 is basically fanservice for longtime viewers, this episode marks the start of the actual narrative.
As for changes, it becomes really obvious very quickly that I should have looked for more than one footstep sound as three characters use the same sound effect file with Demise's and Ganondorf's being overlayed further highlighting the need for me to do some more legwork. Also I want to make the music more diegetic (present in the scene), while I absolutely love the Lorule Theme from A Link Between Worlds, it doesn't add anything and kind of detracts from the scene.
While far from perfect, this episode isn't too bad in the grand scheme of things. There are changes to be made but I'm happy to let it be. Enjoy!
