Live Forever by Oasis! One of my faves from 90s Brit Pop. "Live Forever" was released in August 1994 as the band's third single. Like the Definitely Maybe album cover, the picture sleeve for the single was one of several references to the Beatles that Oasis incorporated into their artwork. In this case, the sleeve image was a photo of John Lennon's childhood home at 251 Menlove Avenue. I still remember the first time I heard it. Gobsmacked by that incredible voice. Equal parts between two Johnny-s - Lennon and Rotten. In its review of the single, NME said, "Basically, what thus far looked like obnoxious Manc arrogance suddenly looks like sheer effortlessness. A terrific record."
These videos serve as lessons on how I play this bunch of Pop, Rock, and Reggae songs - sometimes as a single guitarist playing the only guitar part, though that's rare. And sometimes if there is more than one guitar part, then trying to find the single good path through the tune. I complete one pass, demonstrating different Rhythm parts, styles, and techniques. There is no talking. No discussion. No note-for-note explanations. As such, for clarity, my guitar is supposed to be louder in the mix than it would ever be in a live setting. But, if you really want to hear what I hear, do what I do and put on a good pair headphones with great bass response! It's worth it.
Why this is important to Rhythm Guitar:
Attitude. It's all attitude. It's a great mix of easy Guitars to make this blurry wash. Even the Bass is blurry. Delivered with complete naive self confidence. Just like all true Rock and Roll should be.
It all serves, as it should, the incredible vocal.
With a nice set of Amin riffs off the ending tag.
