When a toothache strikes, most patients automatically assume it is due to a structural defect in a tooth. However, toothaches may arise from diverse orofacial pain disorders that are not directly related to a painful tooth.
Attendees will understand the importance of critical thinking in evaluating orofacial pain patients. They will learn about the history and examination of these patients, clinical presentations of pain conditions, diagnostic techniques, and interdisciplinary management.
This lecture will use a case-based format to review the clinical presentations, evaluation, and differential diagnosis of various orofacial pain conditions that can sometimes mimic toothaches.
