The US Air Force carried out airdrop operations over the Gaza Strip on March 29. According to the US military, it deployed a C-17 aircraft and personnel with expertise in airdrop operations from South Carolina’s Joint Base Charleston to execute the delivery of aid for civilians affected by the ongoing Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. The US says it has conducted 18 airdrop missions since March 2 to deliver food, medicines and other humanitarian aid to support civilian populations on the ground in Gaza. Data released by the United Nations indicates that some 2.3 million people in Gaza are enduring high levels of acute food insecurity.
