Hundreds of dogs, cats and other pets are injured, missing or dead after wildfires destroyed the Hawaiian town of Lahaina, according to the Maui Humane Society. The Maui Humane Society, which is trying to reunite pets with their owners, is encouraging people with missing pets to file a missing pet report on its website, www.mauihumanesociety.org, Shannon said. The blazes that consumed most of Lahaina are already the deadliest in the U.S. in more than a century, with a death toll of at least 96. The cause was under investigation.
