Ingredients
Raw Rice - 1 Cup (250 Ml)
Moong Dal - 1/4 Cup
Jaggery - 250 Gms
Water - 4 1/2 Cups
Boiled Milk - 1 Cup
Cardamom Powder - 1 Tsp
Ghee
Cashew Nuts
Raisins
Method:
1. To melt the jaggery, add water to a pot and add jaggery to it.
2, Once jaggery dissolves and thickens a little bit, turn off the stove and keep it aside.
3, To a pan, add yellow moong dal, roast it for 2 minutes on medium flame. Keep it aside.
4. To a kadai, add water and let it boil.
5. Add the washed raw rice, roasted moong dal and cook it until they are mushy.
6. Add boiled and cooled milk and continue to cook.
7. Strain the jaggery syrup into the rice mixture. Mix well.
8. Add cardamom powder, roasted cashew nuts, roasted raisins and ghee. Mix well.
9. Sarkkarai pongal is ready.
