Muhammad Qavi Khan (Urdu: محمد قوی خان; 13 November 1942 – 5 March 2023)[2] [3] was a Pakistani-Canadian film, radio, and television actor, acting in over 200 films. The Government of Pakistan honored Khan with the Pride of Performance in 1980 and Sitara-e-Imtiaz in 2012 for his contribution to the field of arts.
Khan began working as a child actor at Radio Pakistan in Peshawar.[6] His family belongs to the Yousefzai Pashtun tribe. His family later moved to Lahore. In 1965, he worked for Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) when TV broadcasting first started in Lahore, Pakistan, being one of the first actors of PTV.[4] He started his film career in 1965, and in 1966 appeared in PTV's black and white drama Lakhon Mian Teen. Khan is also well known for his police drama serial Andhera Ujala, which launched him to stardom alongside his fellow actors Irfan Khoosat and [[jameel fakhri ]] .[7] Qavi Khan married in 1965.[4] In March 2011, Qavi Khan's achievements were honored at an event at the Pakistan National Council of the Arts auditorium in Islamabad.[6]
Khan later starred as an actor in various television plays. Some of his works include Saheliyan,[8] (2016), Farz (2017), Khaani (2017), and Meri Shehzadi (2022–2023).[9]
Qavi Khan died from cancer on 5 March 2023, at the age of 80.
