This is the parade on Moscow's Red Square commemorating the 40th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War, 9 May 1985. This would be the first Victory Day military parade in the USSR since 1965. Taking the salute is Minister of Defense, Marshal of the Soviet Union Sergei Sokolov. Commanding the parade is commander of the Moscow Military District, General of the Army Petr Lushev. Music performed by the Combined Orchestra of the Moscow Garrison, conducted by Major General Nikolai Mikhailov.
