In this video, I hike to the Spruce Flats Falls which is a lovely waterfall near the Tremont Institute in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (#GSMNP). The trail to the falls is short, only 1 mile each way, but is steep and rocky in places making the trail moderate in difficulty overall. But the waterfall is beautiful and worth the effort.
I started this hike a the Great Smoky Mountain Institute at Tremont’s parking lot. You start out by following a gravel road up out of the parking lot and then you follow the signs from there. This first part is steeper than you might think with lots of tree roots to navigate, so take your time and bring along lots of water to drink. Eventually you come to a nice view to the south. Then the trail gets very rocky for a while before finally cresting a ridge. At this point, you descend steeply down to the waterfall. The waterfall is a beautiful spot to explore and enjoy some lunch. Finally, you return to Tremont by the same route you came in.
The GSM Institute at Tremont ([ Ссылка ]) is dedicated to education through experiential learning for youth, educators, and adults and has many educational programs that can be taken advantage of.
