Concave convex rule explained a simple, easy way HERE!!
The concave vs convex rule ( Kaltenborn's ) is a basis for figuring out the direction of motion of bone with relation to its articular surface which may be concave or convex.
The Kaltenborn's concave - convex rule states : 1)that the direction of motion of the articular surface will be in the direction of motion of the bone if the surface is concave
2) the direction of motion of the articular surface will opposite to the direction of the motion of the bone if the surface is concave.

This concept of concave convex rule is part of Arthrokinematics / osteokinematics which as the name itself implies is the branch of Physiology and orthopedics which deals which motion at joints / joints.
