Experience hiking in Pakistan's capital city through short 15 second clips of natural trekking ambience and unedited nature sounds.
Islamabad hiking trails are the perfect getaway from urban life. Most of theses trails are located in the Margalla Hills of Islamabad, the least busy amongst them is Trail 6 which starts just behind Faisal Masjid. The Trail loops around Jabbi Village, located at a distance of over 4 km, and returns back to Faisal Masjid.
Leopard sightings at Trail 6 led to its closure recently. Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) identified the presence of a leopard through paw prints found on the trail. The trail was reopened after IWMB tracked the leopard and concluded that it had left the vicinity of Trail 6 Islamabad.
As indicated on from the live gps map, hiking trail 6 is unidirectional for the first 2 km. After crossing the water spring, the trail splits for the Jabbi Village loop. The real time gps overlay tracked a total trekking duration of 3 hours 25 mins, although that can vary for each individual. Trail 6 total distance comes out to be 9.75 km with an elevation gain of 425 m and maximum altitude of 992 m.
Due to its a relatively short distance and duration, Trail 6 Margalla Hills is ideal for casual trekkers as well as for seasoned hikers for training and fitness. For hikers seeking a slightly bigger challenge, the trail connects with breakaway paths leading to Monal Restaurant in Pir Sohawa which offers delicious food with the best view in town.
For those who are passionate about hiking in pakistan, hiking in islamabad's trails is the perfect starting point for future longer, tougher and more fascinating treks in northern pakistan!
